When I was younger, I used to dream about what I wanted to be when I grew up: Lawyer, Doctor, Actress, Model. I thought I could be like Wonder Woman and do it all. Thankfully, my family always encouraged me to follow my dreams, no matter what I was thinking of doing at that time.
Lately, I’ve been on this kick where I feel really entrepreneurial and I am so excited about it. I feel like I haven’t been this determined to make things happen for my life in a very long time. I have visions of what I want to accomplish and they are more clear now than ever. Essentially, I still believe I can be my own version of ‘Wonder Woman’ so I’m going to do my best to make that happen.
How many times have you thought about: what you want to do in life, achieve, maybe even create? I bet hundreds, thousands, even millions of times. Creating the life you want is a fun project, and one of my favorite ways to make my thoughts clear is by making a vision board. When I surround myself with visual guides of things that I would like to strive for, it helps clear my mind and keep me motivated to spring into action daily.
Think for a moment, the fact that you aren’t where you want to be should be enough motivation to get you to where you see yourself. You aren’t always going to be motivated, because you have to learn how to be disciplined. Having this visual reminder, something you look at daily, will help create that inspiring discipline.
Now I know what you’re thinking, “A vision board Kiah, really? That sounds lame!” I know we’ve all seen them before and might have even created some in the past. However, there’s a subtle art to doing them properly so that they can be effective. Vision boards can be tempting to fill with images of far off fantasy destinations, luxury cars, endless amounts of stylish clothes, shoes, etc. Searching for those style images and filling your vision board up with these idealistic plans for your future can be exciting, yes. However, doing so can also hold you back from some of your most powerful, vibrant and dynamic aspirations for yourself.
Let’s just take a sec down “Kiah’s Vision Board Lane”.
As you can see, I don’t have far-fetched ideas on my vision board, I have attainable goals. Goals that if I set my mind to, I fully believe I can achieve them.
A motto to live by: “I pledge allegiance to the grind, I’ve been up early trying to get.”

Some words of wisdom I live by: It’s ok to fall in love with a specific passion of yours. It’s ok to pursue it with sheer focus and intensity. You have to learn to rid yourself from the expectations of others, take pride in practicing/developing and honing in on your greatest strengths, the strengths that will get you to your goals you have listed on your vision board.
Something to remember and live by is that you are capable of amazing things and what you think and envision for your life, can happen if you truly work at it. I may not be where I see myself yet on my vision board, but I’m doing all I can to ensure that I grow a little bit closer each day. I’m daring to dream and designing the life I want. You should too!!
